With over 30 years’ experience in government, business and academia, founder Susan Wharton Gates has a wealth of knowledge, expertise and managerial capability in housing finance, mortgage reform, public budgeting, policy advocacy and ethics. A former Freddie Mac vice president, who witnessed first-hand the tremendous toll ideological strife takes on a proud organization, Susan is author of Days of Slaughter: Inside the Fall of Freddie Mac and Why It Could Happen Again (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2017).
Susan holds a Ph.D. in public administration and policy and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. She teaches normative theory and business ethics at Virginia Tech and is a Capstone advisor at Georgetown University. An independent John Maxwell certified speaker and coach, Susan lectures on public service, ethics and leadership.
